Poop Bathroom Envy Level: Jedi

Holy.  Amazeballs.

Walking Dead Wednesday {Let's see other people}

Walking Dead Wednesday {Intro}

OMG try this!! www.deadyourself.com  (Sorry Porch, I just couldn't resist.  Damn baby, you creepy!!!!) Let's quickly forget Wordless Wednesdays and during the Walking Dead season, it shall be "Walking Dead Wednesday."  We love us some Walking Dead in this house.  So I'm gonna go ahead and share our favorite memes for your pleasure:

Tough Stuff

I'm usually pretty lighthearted, particularly when writing about our life for the blog. I love sharing silly stuff with you guys!  Don't believe me? Let me direct you to our last post about the poop bathroom. Truth is, we struggle. Our closest friends are expanding their adorable families. My baby brother is quickly approaching that same time in his life. You know, that point when the wedding is over and now instead of questions about the wedding, there's just one question people seem to have: When are you gonna have kids? Hi, how are you?  My job is going great... oh, you're going right for the jugular this time, huh?  Cool.  This question is  can be innocent enough and I think we've both learned how to politely respond and move conversation in a different direction. I appreciate all the people who comment that I'll be a good mom, because I genuinely think so too. I love celebrating new babies. I love sharing such a special time in a friends life!

The essentials of a good poop bathroom

Porch and I are very fond of our poop bathroom. And it seems that many people are also interested in our poop bathroom. In fact, some people we know moving into new homes seem to be excited about having their very own poop bathroom for the first time. Let's take a moment and explore what makes a good poop bathroom. Join me on this magical adventure! The only way to make a poop bathroom work for your family is to make it inviting. I really try to encourage everyone to use the bathroom for its intended purpose. That means not being shy about introducing your guests, be they family or friends (or strangers) to the bathroom and the intended use of it. Hey, I think people like to know where the safe place to poop is within a home. After you introduce your guest to the bathroom, it's time to make sure that this bathroom is visually inviting. It needs to be a safe place. There are a few very essential items that we use within the poop bathroom.  Make sure you have ple

Grieving the Loss of our Vacation

It's been a while since Los Porchs got away to somewhere warm (preferably hot) with a sandy beach and drinks with umbrellas in them.  My parents graciously took us along for their adventure back in January of 2011 which is actually the trip where we embraced the name Los Porchs and frankly ran with it (as evidenced here). Pretty cute, right? So young.  Well, let's not get carried away. We've been chatting about attempting to leave again and do something all-inclusive and fun.  Those chats recently ended because Rover, Porch's beloved LR3, recently needed some sweet, sweet mechanic lovin' and emptied our Vacation Fund.  I also had to fork over my reserves to get the Kia Pet new tires and brakes.  I'm pretty glad I did that though because the snow and ice in our alley is a bitch to deal with now, with the new set-up so I can't even imagine how bad it could have been! Plan B involves us patiently waiting to do our taxes and praying to tax refu

Smothered Pork Chops

Porch and I scored a pretty sweet deal on pork chops the other day and I scoured the internet looking for a new recipe to try. The only criteria was that I have all required ingredients in the pantry and not require the grill as our Weber is currently buried in snow and in need of some love. I found an interesting recipe that was too eyebrow-raising to ignore. Don't believe me? Mayo. Yeah. Mayo. Maybe its just us but we hadn't heard of such a thing until tonight and we've seen a lot of Chopped. Just sayin'. Each chop gets covered in a teaspoon of butter and then a teaspoon of mayonnaise. We found using a marinade brush was quite helpful.  Sprinkle with seasonings of your desire,  we used Penzy's Northwoods seasoning and were pleased. The recipe called for "seasoning salt."  Cover each chop with cheddar or whatever cheese you prefer. Probably whatever you have in your fridge.  Go with it. That's a whole lotta cheeses my friends. Homemade Pizza {Amazeballs}

We had a few people over last night and decided to make pizza since our grill is currently buried in the snow.  My apologies, we ate this so quickly last night that there was nothing for us to take a picture of!  Maybe next time! Crust: 2C flour (your choice:  we've tried whole wheat and regular) 2/3 C water 1/4 C olive oil 2t baking powder Maybe some Parmesean cheese in there, if you have some.... works amazingly seasonings (to taste)  I use basil, oregano, Pizza Seasoning, and Pasta Sprinkle from Penzy's Mix all of the ingredients in a large bowl and when combined, I started to knead it.  Then work it out on a pizza stone or pan, whatever you're going to cook it on.  Make it as thick or thin as you'd like. I cook the crust for about 10 minutes at 350 degrees and then pull it out to add the sauce and toppings.  This gives the crust a head start; if you've made your's thicker, you may need a few extra minutes. Sauce: 1 can of tomato sauce 1 litt
