Los Porchs

The day started kind of gloomy & overcast and Charlotte was not feeling the nap situation at home so we ended up having her take her nap in the car on the way to the pumpkin patch.  Not ideal, but better than nothing.  I was nervous because as we pulled out of the driveway, the rain started.  Luckily, it was only cold & windy on the farm, no rain.  The sun even made a brief appearance at the end of our visit.  It was a great day & I am so glad we met up with my parents!  This was a new location for us, but I could absolutely see us returning in the coming years.  It's an awesome place for kids! I know you're supposed to put things out into the universe if you want them to happen, so I spent all of the past week talking about how beautiful the weather would be for the holiday weekend and acknowledged that while we may not get to use the new Oasis Island that Porch & I bought at Costco, we would be happy just to see sunshine.  Dang!  Wisconsin delivered!  We had sunshine and warm weather the whole weekend.  We didn't see any rain until we were on our way home! Source:  Amazon Saturday morning, the ladies worked on shower favors.  That task turned out to be... a little more time-consuming than anticipated.  Let's just say my mom and I have some "homework" to do before the shower!  We packed up the coolers and decided to unwind at the beach!  Porch inflated the Oasis Island and we actually got all six of us on it.  It needed more air, but it was a great time!  Went to dinner together and came home to have a campfire...

As we prepare to cheer for the Packers this weekend in their first playoff game, I'm kind of curious to know if there's a point at which the NFL calls uncle.  I know games are delayed if there's lightening, but what if the wind chill is -50?  That's really not safe and as much as I love a good cold weather game, it makes me nervous.  What if they get frostbite?  We all know that Green Bay fans are the most bad-ass of all but when I read this advisory on the Weather Channel's website, I got really curious about the regulations: * BITTERLY COLD AIR WILL SURGE INTO THE AREA STARTING SATURDAY AFTERNOON. THE COMBINATION OF COLD AND WIND WILL DRIVE WIND CHILL INDICES INTO THE 20 BELOW TO 35 BELOW ZERO RANGE SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY. WIND CHILLS IN THIS RANGE INDICATE THAT FROSTBITE TO EXPOSED SKIN CAN OCCUR IN 20 TO 30 MINUTES.  Is there somewhere that says when it's too cold to play?  Either way, hoping the fans and teams are safe this weekend.  Los Po...

We spent the weekend with my parents in Northern Wisco enjoying the snow and winter weather.  We were on the trails all day Saturday and my body is super sore today! Being a passenger is hard work! Gorgeous views and good company made it worth the sore muscles.  We love winter and playing in the winter weather. Left a little early today as much of our area is expecting a winter storm complete with freezing rain and snow. Fun to play in but not fun to drive in! Slow and steady wins the race!! We're hoping to get another chance to ride this winter but we'll have to see hoe Porch's work schedule and the weather coincide. Did you play outside this weekend? Are you a cold weather fan or does the thought of snow keep you inside under a mountain of blankets?

Here's a fun fact:  an out-of-state fishing license in Wisconsin is over-the-top expensive. This is the first year that I've purchased a license, since Momma Bear & Dad are on such a nice little lake, it seemed necessary.  Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I bought it because I had a lot of fun fishing, but was insulted that I have now officially become a FIB. We arrived up north late Thursday evening (technically Friday morning) and were exhausted but thankful to have avoided most of the holiday traffic.  Had a quiet morning and went into town to do some grocery shopping and stopped to pick up the aforementioned fishing license.  Porch & I journeyed with Mom to Wabeno to do some shopping at the thrift store and found some new places.  Porch found a great new hat and I am convinced he looks like Earlie from Squidbillies (see below).
