Summer might really be here!

This weekend we had some great weather and even better company!  Friday night, our friends from college came to town with their darling daughter, Baby J, who is about 6.5 months and all kinds of cute. Saturday we went to check out the Art Walk on Brady Street with my brother and sister-in-law.  We took Charlie and their puppy and made it a family affair.  Perfect weather, cold beer, and amazing people-watching made our afternoon fabulous.  We brought the party back to our place and threw some chicken on the grill for dinner and enjoyed the evening on our new deck.  One of our neighbors had a rummage sale and seems to have had a very challenging time getting rid of his treasures as he continued to knock on the fence and ask us if we wanted stuff (even into the morning/afternoon).  When we politely declined (we've got enough junk of our own, thanks), he muttered, "I can't even give this shit away" as he sulked away.  The night was made by our other nei...

The neighborhood gem

We have lived in our current place for about 2.5 years. Sunday marked the first time EVER that we walked to the neighborhood park and participated in open swim at the pool. I don't know why it took so long... maybe because we're not usually here on the weekends? Not sure. But Sunday was such a gorgeous day that we couldn't resist the urge to be outside but this preggo needed to be cool. I mentioned the pool and called to find out deets (hours, type of swim, fee, etc) and we slipped on our suits & were out the door in no time! We had been working all morning to assemble baby gear and catch up on laundry so we welcomed the break. We spent about an hour soaking up the sun and floating around in the water. We really aren't going anywhere (no more trips to the cabin or Green Bay for me) between now and the baby's arrival so I suspect that if the weather is nice, we'll be more likely to consider the pool.  Hey, it's clean, free, and close to home. Can...

New Glarus {Beer, Bacon, & Cheese}

We were very excited to see our good friends Jackson and Amanda and to spend the first camping trip of the season with Nate & Casey.  But let's be honest, this weekend was all about the tent. We had been meaning to have a practice run in the backyard before leaving, but with me being back in school and closing the center on the other nights, there's just no time for daylight activities lately and when I get home, I. Am. Beat. Happy to report that the tent was amazing.  Not the easiest set up ever, though we realized why as we were putting it away.  And I might point out that someone (Nate) was so excited about this new tent that he wouldn't let me help set it up which made it seem even more difficult.  Though I did enjoy not having to set it up ;) The screen porch! We had the totes ready and waiting.  I have become totally OCD with our packing for camping.  Everything goes into a tote and gets restocked when we get home so it's ready to g...

S'mores Season: Officially Open

It's time, my darlings.  Camping season has arrived and we are eager to test out our new fancy-pants tent this weekend as we explore the New Glarus campground for the first time.  We've been to New Glarus but had stayed in a hotel so we're pretty pumped to camp & hang out.  We're pretty fabulous campers. I know you've seen all of my camping gear:  organized, clean, and ready to rock. I've been finding copious amounts of joy in reading this great blog Little Baby Garvin .  She has amazing ideas and I love the way she finds a reason to celebrate everyday events.  And let's be honest, her daughter is chunker and I think we all know how I feel about chunky babies :D So.  Look forward to the post about our trip and how easy (hopefully) this great new tent really is to get up -- we're purposely arriving during daylight to ensure we can see what we're doing, at least for this first trip.  Keep your fingers crossed for decent weather &...
